How do Tariffs Affect Ballroom Connection?

You might be wondering how tariffs affect small-to-medium size businesses in our community. We at Ballroom Connection are an example. To provide our customers with a broad selection range of prices and quality, we carry products from companies in the USA, as well as long-known and reputable brands abroad. Whether they are homemade in the US or in a factory in England or Italy, many components that go into a dance shoe or dance wear are manufactured in many other countries including China, Thailand, Mexico, and so many others deeply affected by the unforgiving tariffs. The buckles on the shoe may be sourced from one place, while the fabric that makes up the body from another, the soles somewhere else, all the way down to the eyelets and laces. Such is the nature of how a global market functions.

When a tariff applies, our suppliers are simply adding it to our bill. In many cases, it's reflected right on the bill, and the increase is clear compared to past bills for the same orders. In all cases, every order to restock our products from outside of the US will incur an exorbitant bill that we have no way to predict or even calculate until it is sent to us prior to delivery of the goods, and we are forced to cover these expenses in order to receive them. We will continue to do our part to absorb a portion of the added cost to share the burden with our suppliers so that such increases will not be placed solely on our customers to bear. Every party involved in this entire supply chain has taken a hit, except for the government that has forced these tariffs on us all. This is how things are looking for your local businesses, and we know many other local companies that are in the same boat.

We are not happy about the decision to do so, but unfortunately, the effect of the tariffs has forced us to increase the prices of many of our products in order to cover these costs just to keep our doors open.
